Query is one of the optional licensed programs shipped
with the iSeries. It allows users to interrogate the database to produce
enquiries and simple reports.
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand key concepts of queries and query processing (files,
libraries, interactive/batch etc.)
- Use query to produce a report or enquiry from the database.
- Create new query definitions, revise existing definitions, and run
existing query definitions.
- Getting the correct information into your query
- Use the query presentation features to change the layout of the
report.
- Direct output from a query to a printer, or screen.
- Create queries with totals and sub-totals.
- Manipulate query spooled files.
This course is for end users of Query to help them
harness the power of Query to develop queries for reporting and enquiries.
There are no prerequisites for this practical course.
Basic keyboard skills and a knowledge of the applications to be queried will be
helpful to enable users to complete the many hands on exercises.
For courses run in house, the exercises can be
customised to use your own database and applications. A nominal charge will be
made for this service.
