Professional certification puts your career in your control.
The Professional Certification Program from IBM provides you with a structured program leading to an internationally recognised qualification. The program is designed for flexibility by allowing you to select your role, prepare for and take tests at your own pace, and, in some cases, select from a choice of elective tests best suited to your abilities and needs.
Certification is a tool to help objectively measure the performance of a professional on a given job at a defined skill level. Certification, therefore, is beneficial for individuals who wish to validate their own skills and performance levels and/or their employees. For optimum benefit, the certification tests must reflect the critical tasks required for a job, the skill levels of each task, and the frequency by which a task needs to be performed. IBM prides itself in designing comprehensive, documented processes which ensure that IBM certification tests remain relevant to the work environment of potential certification candidates.

Certification may accelerate your career potential by validating your professional competency and increasing your ability to provide solid, capable technical support.
As a certified professional, you will receive the certification mark associated with your role for use in advertisements and business literature. You will also receive a certificate of completion, a lapel pin, and a wallet-size certificate.
The Professional Certification Program from IBM acknowledges the individual as a technical professional. The certification mark is for the exclusive use of the certified individual.
IBM Certified professionals will be included in mailings from the Professional Certification Program from IBM.

Testing is available at testing centres throughout the UK. The tests cost £96 each, and comprise of multi-choice questions selected from a database of over 100,000 questions. Candidates must obtain a pass mark at the test to become an IBM Certified Specialist.
Sierra Training Courses are available to help prepare you for the certification tests. Attendance on courses is not a requirement before taking a certification test, but can certainly assist you with it. Our recommendation for all tests would be to take the appropriate training courses, and supplement this with a period of practical work in the role in which you wish to be certified.
Test 356 - iSeries
(AS/400) System Command Operations V5R2If you are knowledgeable in iSeries (AS/400) terminology and capable of performing the intermediate to advanced level skills required in the day-to-day operations of an iSeries (AS/400) System, you may benefit from this certification role. The certification test comprises 61 questions to be completed in 60 minutes.

iSeries (AS/400) System Command Operations V5R2 - Education
Test 266 - iSeries
(AS/400) RPG ProgrammerThe IBM Certified Specialist - iSeries (AS/400) RPG4 Programmer interprets design specifications in order to create, maintain, test, and debug RPG3 and RPG4 programs. In addition to knowledge of RPG language structure, this individual will have a basic understanding of OS/400, program development tools, DB2, and CL. This test is primarily RPG4. If you are an RPG programmer implementing user requirements using applicable iSeries (AS/400) tools and techniques, you can validate those skills and expertise by becoming certified in this role. The certification test comprises 74 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

iSeries (AS/400) RPG Programmer - Education
Test 267 - iSeries
(AS/400) RPG4 DeveloperThe IBM Certified Specialist - iSeries (AS/400) RPG4 Developer creates detailed specifications from functional specifications and develops well-structured, maintainable, modular code utilizing all RPG3 and RPG4 language features as appropriate. If you are an RPG programmer implementing user requirements using applicable iSeries (AS/400) tools and techniques, you can validate those skills and expertise by becoming certified in this role. The certification test comprises 61 questions to be completed in 90 minutes.

iSeries (AS/400) RPG Developer - Education
Test 355 - iSeries
(AS/400) System AdministatorIf you are performing day-to-day system administration tasks on the iSeries (AS/400) at an advanced level, this role can help underscore your proficiency at those tasks. The certification test comprises 90 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.
