This course replaces MQ15U. This course provides the basic skills required by an administrator for any of the WebSphere MQ queue managers except WebSphere MQ for z/OS. For iSeries, see the remarks under Audience.

What you will learn

On completion you will be able to:

Plan the implementation of WebSphere MQ on a selected platform
Install WebSphere MQ
Perform simple customization and administrator tasks
Enable a queue manager to exchange messages with another queue manager
Enable a queue manager to support a WebSphere MQ client
Implement basic restart and recovery procedures
Perform basic problem determination

Who should attend

This intermediate course is designed for technical professionals who require the skills to be an administrator for any of the WebSphere MQ queue managers except WebSphere MQ for z/OS, or to provide support to others performing this task. While the course is primarily aimed at the Windows and UNIX implementations of WebSphere MQ, and the practical exercises are run on Windows, administrators with an interest in WebSphere MQ on iSeries may expect to derive a substantial benefit from the course, as both WebSphere MQ concepts and MQ Script Commands are common across all WebSphere MQ platforms.

Pre-requisites

Before taking this course, students should:

Have knowledge of WebSphere MQ to the level covered by courses WM010 or WebSphere MQ System Administration I for Distributed Platforms (MQ01)
Be reasonably familiar with, and be able to invoke simple functions within, the operating system environment used for practical exercises
(Optional) Have a basic knowledge of SNA LU6.2, TCP/IP or NetBIOS configuration
