Course Outline

This course is aimed at support staff and operators who want to easily manage one or more servers from a single PC. Management Central enables the automation of functions such as system resource/message/job/file monitoring etc. and it has tools to simply distribute PTF’s/data/user profiles etc. throughout a network.

Pre-requisites

Delegates will have attended the Operations course (ISOPS) or have the equivalent hands on experience.

Course Content

    • Introduction to Management Central Concepts and terminology
    • Set up the central server, endpoint systems and system groups
    • The Management Central server
    • Secure Management Central functions using Application Administration
    • Start, end, copy, delete and schedule tasks
    • Run commands on one or more servers simultaneously
    • Send, install and manage PTF’s across a network of servers easily
    • Keep PTF’s consistent across a network of servers
    • Distribute objects, libraries, directories throughout a network
    • Create and manage user and group profiles across a network of servers
    • Automate the monitoring of CPU, disk storage etc. across a network of servers
    • Produce real time resource utilisation reports
    • Use Graph History to display and generate resource utilisation reports
    • Use Collection Services to collect performance data
    • Monitor jobs (e.g. job status, job log message, jobs resource utilisation etc.)
    • Monitor messages and give default replies
    • Monitor DB files and the History Log
    • Keep system values consistent across a network of servers
    • Distribute in house written applications throughout a network
    • Distribute licensed programs throughout a network
    • Collect and manage the inventory of HW, SW resources
    • Collect and manage the inventory of user and group profiles, system values
