This course teaches the fundamentals of iSeries/i5 (AS/400)
operations. Operators will learn how to use control language commands and menus
to control the operation of an iSeries/i5 and will be given ample opportunity to
practise on one of our iSeries (AS/400).
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Operate the system including:
- Use CL commands from the command line.
- Navigate the operating system menus.
- Understand the concepts of objects, libraries and the IFS.
- Manage user profiles.
- Manage and monitor jobs and job queues.
- Control and manage printing.
- Send, receive and answer messages, handle system messages.
- Monitor and manage system logs and joblogs.
- Deal with common job and printer problems.
- Configure devices and manage device status.
- Start, stop and work with subsystems.
- Perform saves and restores.
- Power the system on and off.
- Monitor system activity.
- Use iSeries Navigator to carry out ops tasks.
Operators who are new to the iSeries (AS/400), trainee and backup operators who will be involved in the day to day running of an iSeries (AS/400).
Although there are no pre-requisites for this course, delegates must be computer literate. Operators who are new to the iSeries/i5, trainee and backup operators who will be involved in the day to day running of an iSeries.
